Women Deliver 2019 Conference

The Women Deliver 2019 Conference will be held in Vancouver, BC, Canada. More information here:

ACTION will be hosting a side event on transition, called "Women and Girls Metrics: Influencing Shifts in Global Health Financing," and one on integrated health and microfinance, called "Better together: Solidarity Groups to Improve Women and Girls' Well-being." ACTION will also have a booth in the "Fueling Station" (booth #s 1026+1031).

Side Event: "Better Together"

Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals rests on ensuring that the interests of women and girls are central to community development. From India to Benin, from the Philippines to Peru, women form groups to engage in financial activities, for solidarity, and to implement self-help projects to improve the health and financial well-being of their families and communities. For over a decade, in collaboration with local partners, Grameen Foundation and RESULTS Educational Fund have worked with women's solidarity groups to strengthen connections across financial and other sectors: from health and nutrition to agriculture and women’s rights. We have found that designing a holistic package of products (including financial tools, behavior change communication, and linkages with healthcare and other service providers) improves the welfare of women and their households and drives demand for services. Join us for facilitated conversations to explore partnerships via “speed dating” between those who generate demand and those who can supply their needs. LEARN MORE.

Side Event: "Women and Girls Metrics"

Gender influences all health outcomes as barriers exist at differing levels, from the individual to the household to the community, thus impacting global level efforts to achieve Health for All. Public health interventions cannot effectively meet a country’s needs unless informed by sex-disaggregated data and gender-sensitive analysis. Join ACTION's interactive session "Women and Girls Metrics: Influencing Shifts in Global Health Financing" to explore how gender data can be leveraged to inform health transitions' inequality parameters so that women and girls in low- and middle-income countries have an equal opportunity to thrive in a changing health landscape.
